How To Get Damaged and Stringy Curls Back to Normal

Curls can get stringy and damaged as a result of many factors that we inflict on our curls ourselves. Getting your curls back to normal can be difficult but it is achievable. Months ago, my hair just looked dead. For a long minute I started to believe I had somehow become a straight hair natural when in actual fact I was and am a 4b 4c hair type. Something was wrong with my hair and I had to figure it out why my curls looked stringy straight and damaged hair was behaving the way it was. It was a combination of chemical damage and dryness. Heat damage can also be a reason why your curly hair would look dead and stringy. In this post I will be taking you through how you can get those stringy damaged curls back to normal.

How to get your stringy curls back to Normal

If your hair is losing its curls because it is badly damaged, here is how you can revive those curls:

Do a Deep conditioning Treatment

Wavy, curly and coily hair is more susceptible to dryness, and dryness can cause a whole lot of issues from frizz to breakage. As a result, we can say that dryness contributes to a loss of curl pattern. To remedy this my first solution will always be deep condition. I believe that this one of the reason why my hair is flourishing. Prior to doing this treatment, I would always do an oil treatment. I usually let the oil stay wrapped in my hair for a minimum of an hour. After that I shampooed and deep conditioned. One things that has been exceptional in my routine is leaving the product in my hair overnight. My curls are back to normal and I am loving it. Here are some cheap conditioners you can try: Creme of Nature Intensive Conditioning Treatment, Aunt Jackie’s Intensive Repair Conditioning Masque.

Do a Protein Treatment

My hair has been dyed for as long as I can remember and this is a good reason for stringy and damaged curls. Even though I rarely apply heat on my hair, my hair still appears damaged from One of the best weapons I used to combat my stringy hair was protein-rich products which helps to strengthen hair and repair damages caused to hair. Protein treatments helps to fill in holes and tears in your cuticles and hair stands that have been caused by chemical processing, heat damage and just normal weathering. The Aphogee Keratin 2 minute Reconstructor is one of the best products I used to repair such damage. You can check it out.

Trim your Ends

If you have tried all of these methods and your hair still will not curl, then it is time for a trim. Do not just dust off your ends but go for an actual real trim. Treatments can do their best, but when everything fails a good trim might just be what you need to get rid of the damaged and stringy ends. Also long hair can way down your waves, many wavies find that when they get a shorter haircut their curl pattern becomes curlier.

Use the Right Products

Do not use shampoos and conditioners which promise smoother straighter hair. Opt for products that are specifically designed for curly hair. Pay attention to the ingredients in your products and look for moisturizing ingredients. I will not recommend any specific products because it depends on region and availability. I currently live in Italy and finding products have not been easy. However, I have found a few products here that really does wonders on my hair. Most of them are natural products which contain ingredients that do not harm the hair.
